BISMARCK, N.D. -- State health officials are recommending that North Dakota's Transportation Department continue a ban on using oil well wastewater as a road deicer.

The Health Department says in a report that more study needs to be done on the salty wastewater.

Crews used the wastewater to melt ice and snow on North Dakota roads for decades. The practice was stopped in February, after Health Department officials learned of it from The Associated Press.
