BISBEE, Ariz. -- Developers may soon need a letter assuring they have an adequate water supply before getting permission for new subdivisions in Cochise County.
County supervisors are getting set to consider the change contained in an amendment to county subdivision regulations.
The amendment will allow county supervisors to hold off approval of any final subdivision plat until developers submit a letter from the Arizona Department of Water Resources assuring the proposed development has adequate water.
The developers must prove the water supply is continuously, legally and physically available and that it will be sustainable.
Developers may opt to truck in water if the adequacy requirement is not met.
